Watermelon tourmaline
Watermelon tourmaline is a mix of 2 types of tourmaline, namely the pink rubelite and the green elbaite. In perfect "watermelon" conditions, a stick of tourmaline is pink on the inside and green on the outside, just like a real watermelon. The name was coined / given to this variant of tourmaline in 1910 by George robely howe. Watermelon tourmaline is a stone that people like to make jewelry and the prices are high these days. These pieces do not necessarily have the watermelon pattern but always have pink and green tourmaline in them.
