Minerals for Sale

Are you planning to buy minerals? If you see an interesting piece, check the name and look it up. There are many counterfeits on the market. Always check whether a complete location description is included. This is of enormous importance to the collector, and you could safely say that a mineral without a location is worth nothing. The best place to buy minerals is www.mineralenenfossielekopen.nl the most beautiful material and always with a lot of information. Oh yes, I'll just make a separate category for fakes, everything to avoid nasty surprises. Also take a look at www.mineralen-fossielen.nl for much more information about minerals.

What is a Mineral?

In order to be considered a mineral, a stone/chemical composition must meet certain requirements, these are as follows:

The Mineral must be formt in nature “Whitout human involvment”
The mineral must have its own crystal system and chemical formula
The mineral must be in a sollid form “No gass or liquid”

Can you allocate all these properties to the Mineral? Only then can you officially speak of a Mineral. It is a hobby for many to collect these special stones, from twinkling crystals to opaque rough rocks - everything comes to the fore. There are sites all over the world and visiting quarries, mines and mountains are good ways to add to the collection. But not only that, there is also a very lively market on the internet. Minerals are easy to come by there. But often the location is missing, which makes the crystal worthless for a real enthusiast. This is what irritates me immensely and that's why I want to change this. www.mineralenenfossielekopen.nl is therefore always the first choice!

Variants & Polymorfs

One of the requirements of a mineral is that it has its own crystal system and this leads to polymorphic minerals. Because a mineral can sometimes have the same chemical formula, but if the crystal system is different then it is a different mineral. In addition to Polymorphic minerals, you also have variants. Chalcedony, for example, is a variant of quartz. in this case the crystal system is the same and also the chemical formula so quartz and chalcedony are the same mineral with a slightly different construction. Another example are calcite and cobaltocalcite. Here in cobaltocalcite there is an addition to cobalt in the crystal lattice, which gives you a beautiful pink calcite. But otherwise there is no difference and it is therefore the same mineral.

Micromounts & Handpieces

The term micromount literally means mount small (micro = small mount = mount). The minerals are stored in boxes of an average size of 2.8 by 2.8 by 2 centimeters. Many mineral collectors collect handpieces. The advantage of micromounts is that they take up much less space than handpieces. So you can store a lot more in the same place. In addition, some of the rare minerals only occur in very small quantities. If you only collect handpieces, you will never be able to add them to the collection. The only drawback is that you quickly need a good stereo microscope to see everything. In addition to micromounts, you also have handpieces, these are minerals of a decent size.
