Ryoliet
The term Rhyolite (liparite is an older synonym) was coined by Baron von Richthoven from the Greek for Flowing Lava. It is a felic igneous rock and indeed also an outflow rock that solidifies at the surface. The name translated name of this stone type "flowing lava" is therefore a correct name. Small crystals can be recognized in rhyolite. However, large crystals will always be missing in this rock because it has cooled down too quickly for this. The main minerals found in rhyolite are quartz, potassium feldspar and plagioclase. In addition, traces of biotite, aphibole and pyroxene may be present here and there. Pieces of fire opal can still be found in these pieces of rhyolite from Mexico.
