Syringopora - Fossil coral
This beautiful Syringophora comes from the upper silurian of the town of Bjärsjölagård in Sweden. The genus Syringophora originates in the Ordovician and is extinct in the Permian. An average Syringophora colony can reach about 7.5 cm, but of course many fossils crumble down until small pieces remain. The inside of these corals consists of tubes that flow into a kind of funnel.
