Klay Core - Bivalve
This beautiful clay core (stone core but then of clay) comes from the Aptian, Cretaceous of Rothenberge, Ochtrup, Germany. A stone "Of Clay" core is created when an organism with a hollow interior (such as a shell) fossilizes. The shell itself then falls apart. What remains is the inside that has now turned to stone, the stone core.
