Demantoid
Demantoid is the green variant of the mineral andradite it belongs to the garnet group. It is a calcium and iron-rich garnet with the chemical formula Ca3Fe2Si3O12. Demantoid was discovered in the year 1868 near the western Urals in Russia. The name Demantoid comes from the French "demant" which means diamond. This has to do with the clear reflection/reflection of the crystals. Demantoid is highly valued as a gemstone and was very soon after its discovery. However, it remains one of the rarer minerals of the garnet group.
