Danburite

Danburite is a boron containing calcium silicate with the chemical formula CaB2Si2O8. The mineral is transparent, translucent white, yellow or gray. However, the stripe color is always white. It has a fat gloss and a hardness of 7. The mineral was first discovered in the USA to be precise Danbury (Connecticut). And the mineral is therefore named after the town. Danburite is formed in pegmatite veins and various contact metamorphic rocks. In nature, the mineral occurs, but rarely in gem quality. If this is the case, it will be both faceted and cabochon cut.
