Danburite
Danburite is a boron-containing calcium silicate with the chemical formula CaB2Si2O8. The mineral is transparent, translucent white, yellow or gray. However, the stripe color is always white. It has a greasy luster and a hardness of 7. The mineral was first discovered in the USA, Danbury (Connecticut) to be precise. And the mineral is also named after the town. Danburite is formed in pegmatite veins and various contact metamorphic rocks. The mineral occurs in nature, but rarely in gemstone quality. If this is the case, it is cut both faceted and cabochon.
