Chrysocolla
Chrysocolla is a hydrated copper aluminum silicate with the chemical formula (Cu,Al)2H2Si2O5(OH)4·n(H2O). The name comes from Greek and means something like Gold glue because it was used to remove gold from rocks. The mineral is usually blue-green but can also be green, blue or brown, however the stripe color is always light green. Today chrysocolla has no more uses in our industry apart from cabochons and sometimes faceted gemstones. There are no known crystals of this mineral, and it is only found as crusts around copper/copper minerals.
