Vanadinite

The mineral vanadinite is a lead-chloro-vanadium oxide with the chemical formula Pb5(VO4)3Cl. Vanadinite is usually blood red in color but it can also be colorless, yellow and brown. Vanadinite can be either translucent or opaque but has a diamond luster. The name comes from the element vanadium which is one of the components of vanadinite. The mineral is almost always found in lead oxidation zones, and often in arid environments such as deserts.
