The isua BIF is the oldest known sedimentary rock on our planet. It has a very high age of no less than 3.6 to 3.7 billion years old! These pieces come from the Isua greenstone belt in Nuuk, Greenland. Here they originated in an area of diverging (Diverging) earths. This under the influence of a hydrothermal subsea effect. Isua BIF contains rare earth elements such as Europium.
