Neritidae

The snails of the family Neritidae are mainly coastal inhabitants and live on rocks or mangrove trees, only a few genera such as septaria live in freshwater areas. The operculum has a short shield. There are about 50 species of Neritidae still alive today. And most species come from the tropics.
