The mineral Gypsum is a calcium phosphate CaSO4, which is usually white to white-yellow or translucent. Gypsum is a mineral that has many applications in induction; including as fertilizer. But also as a filler in toothpaste and paint. It is also used in school chalks, casting clay (Ceramics), toilet bowls and as a soil improver. So it is a versatile mineral and with a hardness of 2 (By definition) it is also a very soft mineral. The fracture is shell-shaped, the crystal system monoclinic and the cleavage is good.
