Dubbelspate Calcite
Double-Spat Calcite is a form of Calcite that consists of rhombic powder ristals that form a skewed cubis as if it were. In some double spatters that are bright and thick enough the birefringence effect occurs. This effect causes letters or the like to be seen twice when you place them under the crystal. Often, however, a lot of pollution in the form of other minerals and elements occurs in the large crystals. These crystals come from Mexico, but doublespace calcite can be found in more places, for example in Iceland, where it is also called Icelandic spate. This calcite is UV active and glows pink.
