Beta-Quartz
These pieces of quartz come from the island of Java in Indonesia. Beta-Quarter is a form of quartz that is formed at a very high temperature. It has hexagonal crystal structure where quartz has trigonal structure. However, beta-quartz cannot be kept at room temperature because the structure is then converted back to that of quartz. It does, however, retain the outer shape of Beta-quartz and that is why I still call these crystals Beta-Quartz. But it is actually just quartz.
