Meteorites

Meteorites are parts of a meteoroid or asteroid that have struck the earth. If the object is still in the atmosphere, we don't call it a meteorite but a meteor. During this flight, the object is exposed to enormous heat. A meteorite can be recognized by, among other things, its fusion crust/melting crust and fingerprints created during combustion. There are three types of meteorites; stone meteorites, iron meteorites, stone-iron meteorites.
