Quartz Monzonite
a quartz Monzonite is an igneous rock that is between the mafic and felic igneous in terms of composition. It is a deep rock consisting of approximately equal amounts of sodium-containing feldspars such as plagioclase and orthoclase. Other minerals present in Monzonite are hornblende and biotite, but quartz also makes up up to 20% of the rock. In the case of this quartz monzonite, a minimum of 5% quartz is present. I polished this specimen on one side so that all the minerals in the stone are clearly visible.
