Iron öolite
an öolite is a chalky rock formed by öoids. These are round circular layers built up of clay or lime, in some cases also hematite or other iron-containing minerals. in the latter case it is therefore an iron oil. The average öolite in an öolithic rock is between a few millimeters and centimeters. This rock is formed in warm water saturated with lime in which a strong wave movement takes place, such as in the surf for example. The öolits often form around harder objects such as pieces of shells, but this does not have to be the case.
